About
I am an artist working in painting and mixed media and am interested in exploring how our awareness of being in and moving through a geographic location has metaphorical ties to life experience. My work involves collage from many sources, in varied media and scale, that are pieced together and developed in order to show our contemporary understanding of a place and how we make sense of that journey. I have had solo exhibitions in the United States, Turkey and Denmark. Teaching is very important to me and I have taught at Central Michigan University since 2002 and am now Professor of Painting and Drawing in the Department of Art and Design. Previously, I taught in New York, Illinois and New Hampshire. I received an MFA in Painting from Indiana University at Bloomington and a BFA in Fine Arts from the University of New Hampshire.
